    I never understood the consent of flipping it upside down! If the juices flow why would it not flow from the top to the bottoms when it’s upright and if it does then why flip it?

    • @bluejeanchef
      @bluejeanchef 8 днів тому

      Pineapples are stored and sold on their bases which causes all the juice to sink to the bottom. By flipping them upside down, you're allowing the juices to flow back into the top before serving.

    Put the top in your garden and it’ll usually start growing depending on what area you are in. I’ve had great success with this. Even the tops of the pineapples where the leaves were removed.

    Of all videos out there on the topic, Blue Jean Chef does the best job explaining how, the reasons why, and knowing when the job is done. My aunt, a professional baker, taught me how to make her spice cake as a teen in Holland. I still visualize all her steps from memory but never achieved the lovely texture I remember so well. Now my cakes come out perfectly for the first time. Thank you, Blue Jean Chef!

    Hi,and Mahalo Nui from Kona Hawaii I am a retired guy from Kona and have been tutoring some kids who have been homeschooled here in Hawaii--this tutoring was to transition them back into the normal school system--part of the tutoring involved some cooking classes mixed with history/geography lessons-IE Pizza making while studying about Naples, Pompei, etc, etc. One thing led to another and some of the students enterprisingly obtained weekend cooking jobs using the informal cooking classes during my tutoring. Recently I have been introducing some of these kids to Sous Vide cooking--I have looked at hundreds of Sous Vide videos to direct my students to-- yours is the best! Also your other cooking school videos have become a staple! Aloha Nui Loa

    Yay! I'm so glad. I followed a raw cat food recipe recently which called for the rinsing off of the chicken meat, and I felt really uncomfortable about the splashing and then the dripping and all the water that kept coming off the meat into the bowl, and so I used the strainer which then also had to be thoroughly washed, and all this contaminated water. I can understand the requirement as it was intended to be fed to the cat raw, but I wasn't comfortable doing that, and I lightly cooked it in a saute pan. So next time I make the food, I will not get it wet. I am relieved. Making this recipe made me really tense as there were three different raw meat ingredients I had to handle, cut, skin, grind, and otherwise move around my kitchen a lot. Next time will be easier. Good to know that if there's any slime on the meat you shouldn't eat it. I didn't know that. I guess there's a lot of things my mom just didn't teach me. I recently had a beef steak that felt a bit slippery so I washed it off and it was no longer slippery and then I cooked it and ate it, and did not get sick. So I wondered about that.

    Anyot try it in an instapot on sous vide setting? There is no circulation impeller bit I am guessing that it shouldn't make much difference since the instapot is better insulated than sau that lexan container or a stock pot especially if put the lid on it. And the heating elements are wrapped around the pot and not just in one place lilke in a sous vide circulator. I am just not sure if the instapot has a PID controller like an aonova or other circulator does. I wonder if it is as accurate at maintaining the temperature. It is certainly better insulated but that might also be bad in a way too.

    This is making "flavored vinegars" the same way bringing home takeout can be dinner... Real flavored vinegars are made by first making wine (alcohol) and then allowing it remain open to the air and ferment. (Although when doing things like herbs that do not have high sugar contents you'll need to add white/brown sugar or honey.)

    Flour the fish first then then batter the fish then flour again. Flouring the fish first will stop the batter sliding off the fish and stop it falling off the fish. Basic 101 in cooking.
